Nosferatu

Nosferatu PG

The 1922 German Expressionist horror film will be accompanied by live music from The Somerset Brides of Dracula.

Voted 7th on The Guardian’s list of the 25 Best Horror Films Of All Time in 2010, this 1922 German silent horror movie is a classic in his genre, having influenced so many horror movies and characters since. It has even its own website (www.nosferatumovie.com).

Illegally adapted from Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, Nosferatu was originally meant to disappear when, following Stoke’s wife's legal battle, the German Court ordered all copies to be destroyed. But over the years, surviving copies made their way to the US and the UK, increasing the reputation of the movie that could come back to life like vampires.

The movie was first released with a live orchestra playing. The original soundtrack has been lost, but so many pieces and styles of music have since been composed in relation to the movie. For this event, a piano will be played live with its own selection of soundtracks by the one time only group The Somerset Brides of Dracula.

The Premiere’s movie in Berlin was followed by a long-time famous costume party. For this reason, and to celebrate Halloween, you are more than welcome to dress up in your favourite costume for the evening.
