Peter Snow & Ann MacMillan - Kings and Queens

undefined

Historians and broadcasters Peter Snow and Ann MacMillan introduce the most powerful men and women in English, and later British, society. Opening with the reign of King Alfred, during which the foundations of the nation were laid, Kings and Queens introduces the monarchs who have ruled through personal and political strife, triumph, war and peacetime.

Snow and MacMillan offer a unique insight into the waxing and waning fortunes of these formidable rulers, from those such as devious King John who ruled with cruelty and fabled warrior-king William the Conqueror, to our own Elizabeth II, admired for her diplomacy and integrity while presiding over turbulent times.

Peter Snow is a highly respected journalist, author and broadcaster. He was ITN's Diplomatic and Defense Correspondent form 1966 to 1979, and presented BBC's Newsnight from 1980 to 1997. For many years he was an indispensable part of election nights.

Ann MacMillan was one of Canada's first female reporters and moved to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's London Bureau after she married Peter Snow in 1976. They co-authored War Stories: Gripping Tales of Courage, Cunning and Compassion in 2017.
