An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power

An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power U

Plus Q&A with Shane Collins (Green Party).

A decade after An Inconvenient Truth brought climate change into the heart of popular culture comes the follow-up that shows just how close we are to a real energy revolution.

In 2006, Filmmaker Davis Guggenheim first followed Al Gore as the former presidential candidate campaigned to raise public awareness of the dangers of global warning and called for action to curb its destructive effects on the environment. Very soon after the documentary An Inconvenient Truth was released, the need for a sequel was strongly felt.

In An Inconvenient Sequel Jon Shenk and Bonni Cohen address  the progress made to tackle the problem and show Gore’s global efforts to persuade governmental leaders  to invest in renewable energy; the documentary culminates in the signing of the Paris Climate Agreement in 2016. In June 2017, following President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement, the filmmakers re-edited the film to expand Trump’s role as antagonist.

The screening will be followed by Q&A with Shane Collins, Green Councillor on Mendip Council since 2015 and Leader of the Mendip Green Party. He’s currently a director of the Green Gathering Festival, the UK’s first renewable powered festival.
