The Monocle from Rendez-Vous Dance

‘The Monocle’, the highly-acclaimed, stylish contemporary dance and music production created by award-winning choreographer Mathieu Geffré, founder and Artistic Director of Rendez-Vous Dance. 

Welcome to ‘The Monocle’…where nothing is impossible…This dance production reveals and celebrates the long-forgotten pioneering history of Le Monocle, the legendary 1930s Paris nightclub where glamorous lesbians dined, danced, sang and socialised without fear of persecution within its plush, secret walls.

Featuring a smouldering, versatile cast of seven – including the celebrated early jazz singer and band leader Imogen Banks – this compelling work of dance, music and song will come to Westlands Entertainment Venue on 3 February 2026.  

Post Show Talk - Join The Monocle team after the show for a post show talk in the Cafe Bar and gain further insight into the making of a show and to have the opportunity to ask the creative team questions.

BSL Interpretation - BSL will be integrated in to The Monocle production and will be performed by Caroline Ryan.

Audio Description - Audio Description will be available throughout the performance. Audio Descript will be available from The Monocle website where there is a transcript along with audio files to download. Patrons wishing to use Audio Descript will be instructed to press play by one of the performers onstage at the start of the show and again after the interval. Patrons should bring their own mobile device and headphones to access the Audio Description.
