Caroline Wallis-Newport

Caroline is a professional pianist and piano teacher and a graduate of the Royal College of Music. She lives in Yeovil.
She has performed as a soloist, accompanist, chamber musician, orchestral pianist and wedding pianist in London, Denmark and France. Venues in this country have included Morley College, the Bristol Music Club, the Octagon and Westlands Theatres, Strode Theatre, Wells Cathedral, Montacute House, Brympton House, Minterne House, North Cadbury Court, Bagborough House, the Orchardleigh Estate, Larmer Tree Gardens, Rook Lane Chapel, the Guildhall in Bath, the Victoria Rooms in Bristol and Salisbury Cathedral. During the pandemic she gave a recital of classical piano music at St James' Church in Yeovil.
She formerly taught the piano for Roehampton University and Sutton Adult Education College in Surrey and has been a peripatetic teacher at primary and secondary schools within London and Somerset. She was also a tutor at Strode College in Street and taught at Sherborne Preparatory School for 10 years. She now teaches advanced students privately.
Highlights of Caroline's career have included accompanying the international operatic heldentenor, Stuart Skelton, in a recital of music by Liszt and Korngold for which she had just three weeks to prepare! Performing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with an orchestra is another highlight.
Caroline was also the music advisor for a BBC television dramatisation of The Turn of the Screw, which was filmed at Brympton House in 2009 and which starred Michelle Dockery (more recently seen in Downton Abbey).
Whilst classically-trained, Caroline is a versatile pianist and enjoys performing many genres such as jazz and pop as well as music from films and television.
