Heritage Talk: Football Focus

From the Yeovil Casuals of 1895 to Gary Johnson, join Heritage Co-Ordinator, Joseph Lewis for a trip through the history of Yeovil Town Football Club.

Joseph’s talk will trace the origins of Yeovil Town from a meeting in the Temperance Hall, South Street, Yeovil through to playing on the field alongside the Pen Mill Hotel to the glory days of the Huish sloping pitch and the ‘Giant Killing’ days beating Sunderland in the fourth round of the FA Cup in 1948/49. The story then leads up to promotions in 2003 and 2013 and the double decker bus tour through Yeovil and well-known matches against Manchester United.

Reference will be made to recently donated football items from the 1948/49 era.
